Business Headshots & Portraits in Frankfurt

A business portrait is often the first thing clients, applicants and business partners see of you, long before the first conversation. I have been photographing business portraits for freelancers, executives and entire teams since 2007, today in my studio in Frankfurt. My goal is an image that looks competent and still looks like you.

Definition

What is a business portrait?

A business portrait is a professional photo of you in a professional context: for your website, LinkedIn, press kit or annual report. Unlike a job application photo (in German) it shows not only your face but your posture, presence and your role in the company.

Typical formats are the tight headshot, the half-length portrait and the portrait at the workplace. It is created with controlled lighting, a calm background and natural retouching, and suits your industry.

How I work

What makes a good business portrait

Camera, light and background are a matter of craft. They have to be right, and because I have been photographing since 2007, they are. Whether a portrait turns out really well, though, is decided elsewhere: between you and me. And that is exactly what I love about my job: getting to know people, listening to them and finding out what makes them who they are.

Most people come to the studio feeling a little uneasy, and that is completely normal. That is why we don't start right away. We talk, I explain every step and show you the images directly on the monitor (more about this in the posing guide, in German). At some point comes the moment when you stop thinking about the camera pointed at you. That is exactly when the images are made in which you recognise yourself: relaxed, confident and genuine.

That is what a business portrait is about. In a few seconds it should show who you are professionally: competent, approachable and credible. That is what sets it apart from a photo booth picture or a snapshot in the office corridor.

People first, then the picture.

Use

Where your business portrait is used

A good business portrait works for you in many places. To make sure it fits everywhere, I plan the shoot around its purpose: crop, format and visual style depend on where your image will appear later.

Annual report

In the annual report and on the board page, gravitas matters. A calm portrait with a clear visual language that radiates authority yet remains approachable. Examples can be found in my executive portraits for boards and leadership.

Careers page

Applicants want to see who they will be working with. Consistent team photos show real people instead of stock photos and make your company tangible.

About us page

On your own website, a portrait may show more personality. More relaxed too, without a tie, in line with your brand.

LinkedIn profile

On LinkedIn, a small round picture decides the first impression. A tight headshot with a clear gaze works even at thumbnail size.

Talks and panels

Speaker profiles, programmes and event pages need a portrait that looks open and present.

Press kit

Editorial teams need images in high resolution and several formats. I deliver portrait and landscape versions so that your portrait fits any layout.

Business photography in Frankfurt

Business portraits that look like you

Company website, LinkedIn profile, careers page or press kit: a portrait is used in many places. That is why a shoot usually produces several variations, for example a tight headshot, a half-length portrait and a more relaxed version.

Good portraits look calm, clear and credible. I tailor light, background and crop to your industry and purpose: more classic and darker for banks and law firms, lighter and more relaxed for consulting, tech and start-ups.

In the studio or on site at your premises

In the studio in Frankfurt-Bockenheim, I have full control over light and background. For teams, I come to your office with a mobile studio, throughout the Rhine-Main region and beyond.

Consistent for your whole team

Same light, same background, same crop: that way your team looks cohesive on your website. I photograph new colleagues later in exactly the same look.

Hair and make-up on request

On request, make-up artist Steff Wilkenloh takes care of hair and make-up. That way you look fresh and natural even under studio lights.

Industries

Business portraits for banks, law firms, consultancies and real estate

In Frankfurt, I mainly photograph for banks and financial service providers, law firms, management consultancies and real estate companies. In the banking district and at law firms, clients expect gravitas: a dark background, a jacket, a calm posture.

Consultants and brokers may come across as more approachable, often with a light background. Business casual suits tech and agencies. We clarify which look suits you in our initial call.

We start with a coffee and a short chat.

You see the images on the monitor during the shoot. Afterwards, you choose your favourites at your leisure in an online gallery.

Frequently asked questions about business portraits

Headshot, company portrait or business portrait: what is the difference?

They essentially mean the same thing: an image that shows personality and competence. The headshot is the tight crop of head and shoulders, typical for LinkedIn and team pages. A classic business portrait shows more of the upper body and leaves room for posture and surroundings.

What is the difference between a business portrait and a job application photo?

A job application photo has one goal: the CV. A business portrait, on the other hand, accompanies you on LinkedIn, your company website, in the press section and on presentation slides. It can therefore show more personality and is usually created in several variations.

How long does a business portrait shoot take?

For an individual shoot in the studio, 30 to 120 minutes is a good guideline, depending on how many looks and backgrounds we photograph. There is no fixed limit; we can take more time if you wish. For team shoots at your company, I plan 5 to 15 minutes per person, depending on whether just a headshot or several variations are needed.

What should I wear for a business portrait?

Ideally what you wear at work, just a touch more polished. Plain fabrics in muted tones almost always work, fine stripes and small checks less so. More tips can be found in the guide Outfit for the business photo shoot (in German).

Do you photograph in the studio or at our company?

Both. Individual portraits are usually created in my studio in Frankfurt-Bockenheim, where I have full control over light and background. For teams, I come to your office with a mobile studio, throughout the Rhine-Main region and beyond.

How quickly will I get my images?

You choose your favourites in an online gallery. The finished retouched images usually follow 3 to 5 working days after your selection. If you need them quickly, Same Day Delivery is possible.

I don't like being in front of the camera. Is that a problem?

No, most people feel that way. We start with a coffee and a chat, I explain every step and show you the images on the monitor in between. Tips on posture and expression can be found in the posing guide, in German.

Can new employees be photographed later in the same look?

Yes. I document the lighting, background and crop so that new colleagues later look exactly like the rest of your team.

How much does a business portrait in Frankfurt cost?

That depends on the duration, the number of looks and the number of edited images. For individuals, there are fixed packages from 30 to 120 minutes, which you can book directly online. For teams, I prepare a quote based on the number of people and the location. If you are unsure which package suits you, book a free consultation.

Is hair and make-up available?

Yes, on request. I work with make-up artist Steff Wilkenloh. Let me know in our initial call and I will schedule her for your appointment.
